In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have recovered a substantial quantity of
ammunition and explosives north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in an operation. Based on
specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police was
launched in the Keran Sector of Kupwara. The operation resulted in the seizure of a large
cache of arms, including AK-47 rounds, hand grenades, RPG rounds, and materials
intended for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
According to Defence Spokesperson Srinagar, the recovery is significant considering the
current security situation and upcoming important events in the Union Territory. The
intelligence tip off was from a special election observer deployed in J&K and has possibly
helped avert a major incident in North Kashmir. He said that Security forces are ever
committed to keeping the environment stable and peaceful, in the region.
